ACS Disaster Management and Emergency Preparedness Course

The American medical community is challenged with the threat and actual occurrence of major mass casualty disasters. These events require an entirely different approach to medical care, including different strategies and tactics in caring for large numbers of severely injured victims, compared with the routine practice of emergency care. The Disaster Management Emergency Preparedness Course was developed by the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons as an educational tool targeted at those acute care hospital providers (surgeons, anesthesiologists, emergency medicine physicians, ER, OR, ICU and Trauma nurses and prehospital professionals) who will be the most likely first receivers of casualties following major disasters. This course is offered on two dates September 29 and September 30.
